Leeds heart unit talks continue

NHS England has insisted the children's heart unit at Leeds General Infirmary remains suspended pending a review, despite claims from two local MPs about a meeting on the issue. A ban on surgery was imposed over concerns about the numbers of deaths.

Keogh defends 'bad timing' of Leeds closure

The National Health Director Sir Bruce Keogh has defended the timing of the closure of Leeds General Infirmary children's heart surgery.

Sir Bruce said, "I agree the timing looks bad...but I have to act irrespective of hoe inconvenient it is, how awkward it is or suspicious it looks. The public would expect that of me."
