Anger at BBC 'censorship' of Ding Dong song

Some members of the public took to Twitter to criticise the BBC's decision to only play a short snippet of the Ding Dong record on Sunday's chart show:

Extraordinary silliness by the #BBC. I'm surprised they've caved in and actually cut the song from charts prog. Pathetic. #dingdong

I wasn't going to do it before but I am now going to buy #DingDong. The pathetic #BBC censorship is far worse than the song itself.

The #dingdong protest is tasteless. Not playing the song on the other hand is just gutless. #ImInLoveWithMargaretThatcher Meanwhile at #37.

Ding Dong song No2 in chart

'Ding Dong! the Witch is Dead' failed to reach number one in the official singles chart despite a campaign to promote the song in the wake of Margaret Thatcher's death. The song, which is from the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz, reached number two.
