The number of police officers on duty for the London Marathon has been boosted by 40% to provide reassurance in the wake of the atrocities in Boston according to Scotland Yard.

May meets MI5 and Met bosses after Boston attack

The Home Secretary Theresa May has met the head of the MI5 and the Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner Cressida Dick to discuss security in light of the attacks in Boston.

Mrs May will be updating Cabinet later.
