UKIP has gained 139 county council seats while the Conservative Party has lost 335.
Labour also gained seats at the local elections - 291 - while the Liberal Democrats lost 124 seats.
UKIP leader Nigel Farage claimed a "sea change" in British politics as they gained more than 140 council seats in the local elections.
