Neighbours of Clifford Clark who died following a suspected dog attack described the 79-year-old as a "lovely man".
One unnamed friend told the Liverpool Echo that Mr Clark, who was said to be a retired hospital porter, was attacked by the dog while he was cooking.
"He had put a pan of Scouse [stew] on and went to his friend’s home. When he went back the kitchen had become smokey, he opened the back door and as he opened it the dog was there and it attacked him.”
