Boston suspect tells his mother 'I'm absolutely fine'

The mother of Boston Marathon bomb suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has said he sounds mentally "normal" after their first phone conversation since his arrest.

Zubeidat Tsarnaeva also said her son told her he was recovering from gunshot wounds after a shootout with police on April 19.

According to Bloomberg News, Mrs Tsarnaeva quoted her son as saying: "I am absolutely fine, my wounds are healing. Everything is in God’s hands".

She also said the six minute conversation was "very quiet", adding "mentally he is normal but the child is shocked".
