China has developed the world's most powerful supercomputer, reports the Xinhua News Agency.

The Tianhe-2, built by the government-run National University of Defence Technology, is now at the top of a list of the fastest 500 supercomputers, compiled by a research team.

China last held the top ranking between November 2010 and June 2011.

The list also placed two US supercomputers as second and third fastest in the world, named as Titan and Sequoia.
