Snowden denies giving China classified information

Edward Snowden, who revealed he was the source of leaked information about US government surveillance programmes, denied having given classified information to China.

"I have had no contact with the Chinese government", Snowden said during a live chat on the Guardian website. "I only work with journalists".

His comments came after China's foreign ministry dismissed claims that Snowden was Chinese spy as "utterly ridiculous".
