MoD awaits decision on army families' compensation

The Ministry of Defence will be told tomorrow whether it can be sued for compensation by the families of soldiers sent into battle in lightly armoured land rovers.

The families have been involved in their own battle to establish that the MoD has a duty to give soldiers the equipment and protection that they need.

Soldiers' families can sue MoD

The Supreme Court has ruled that relatives of three soldiers killed in Iraq can sue the MoD for damages. The families say it failed to provide them sufficient protection after they were killed by roadside bombs while in lightly armoured Land Rovers.
