Two men have been arrested over an attempted raid of a flagship Apple store.
Up to eight suspects attempted a smash and grab at the shop in Regent Street, central London, shortly after 1am today by smashing a glass door with an axe.
Security guards disturbed the suspects who fled on scooters before police arrived, Scotland Yard said.
Officers used helicopters to help search for the gang last night and arrested two men, aged 18 and 21, in Tufnell Park, north London, on suspicion of aggravated burglary and dangerous driving.
The attempted raid comes nearly two weeks after six burka-clad robbers with axes and sledgehammers stole £1 million worth of luxury watches from Selfridges on Oxford Street, central London.
Scotland Yard would not comment on whether any link is being made between the two raids.
