WikiLeaks 'helps Snowden asylum'

WikiLeaks has claimed that it helped with US intelligence leaker Edward Snowden's "political asylum in a democratic country, travel papers and safe exit from Hong Kong".

Report: Edward Snowden facing several charges

Former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden has been charged with espionage, theft and conversion of (US) government property, The Washington Post has reported.

The charges are said to have been filed by federal prosecutors in the Eastern District of Virginia, whose jurisdiction includes the main base of Mr Snowden's former employer, Booz Allen Hamilton.

The Post report said the US Justice Department had declined to comment on the claims.
