Chancellor: Council tax freeze to continue to 2016

The Chancellor has said that the council tax freeze is due to come to an end in April 2014.

But he added: "We will fund councils to freeze council tax for the next two years."

"That’s nearly £100 pounds off the average council tax bill for families."

Osborne curbs welfare benefits

The newly unemployed will have to wait at least seven days before they are able to sign on, under a series of changes to welfare benefits announced by the Chancellor. A new welfare cap will be set from 2015 and OAP expats face losing fuel payments.
