Snowden 'not accepted asylum'

WikiLeaks has said US intelligence agency leaker Edward Snowden has "not yet formally accepted" an asylum offer from Venezuela. It came after a senior Russian politician clarified an earlier tweet that Mr Snowden has accepted an offer from Venezuela

German govt: Spying on friends is unacceptable

A German government spokesman said if the media reports about US surveillance are true then spying on friends is "unacceptable", Reuters reports.

The spokesman added that trust with the US needs to be rebuilt and that Chancellor Angela Merkel will meet with US President Barack Obama and discuss the reports in the near future.
