Police link 'chase' incident to Shipley stabbings

Police have linked an incident involving an eight-year-old girl in Shipley to the murder of an 84-year-old women and the stabbing of a nine-year-old boy.

The girl was approached by a male while she was playing in her garden yesterday afternoon but she managed to escape unharmed when he ran off when she screamed.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and the attempted murder of the boy, police said.

Another man, 26, has been arrested in connection with murder and three other men aged 18, 24 and 29 in connection with the incident in the skate park.

Stabbed boy remains in hospital

A nine-year-old boy who was stabbed remains in hospital as detectives investigate links between his attack, the murder of an OAP and an incident in which an eight-year-old girl was chased through a garden. Four of five people held have been released.
