The former 100m world record holder Asafa Powell has tested positive for a banned substance, reports Reuters.

Powell competed against Tyson Gay at London 2012, and ran in the 100m final where he finished eighth.

Gay has revealed that he has also tested positive for a banned substance.

Athletes 'given supplements'

Paul Boyle, manager of Asafa Powell and Sherone Simpson, has told ITV News the athletes were given 'supplements' by their physiotherapist. He says if any of the supplements were not legal, they had been supplied unwittingly.
