Boris Johnson donned high visibility clothing and a hard helmet as he wielded a mallet to lay down one of the last paving stone in the capital's newest public space.

The 75,000 sq ft King's Cross square, with improved entrances to the London underground, double the number of trees, and an area dedicated to public art, will open to the public on September 26, as the final part of a £550 million redevelopment of King's Cross station.
