Kate Jones, the Co-operative's head of product development said the company was determined to go ban Nuts from the store, despite losing money. Speaking on ITV's Daybreak, she said:
"We are still in dialogue with each of the publishers, and we asked them to put these titles in modesty bags, and yes, if they don't do that we will take them from sale.
"We will be losing money, but we are responding to our customers' concerns."
