Gerrard 'really confident' Suarez will not sign for Arsenal

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard said he is "really confident" team-mate Luis Suarez will not be sold to another club in England, with Arsenal reportedly keen on signing the striker.

Speaking ahead of England's game against Scotland tomorrow, the midfielder said: "If I can use my influence to try and make him stay I will try to do that because I love playing with him and don't want him to go.

"For Liverpool to be successful moving forward we have to keep our best players."

He added: "I'm really confident he won't be going to any one else in England."

The Uruguayan forward has been ordered to apologise by Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers after trying to force his way out of the club in a bid to play Champions League football.

Meanwhile, Gerrard told ITV News Sports Editor Steve Scott that he believed the transfer window should shut before the season starts amid rumours over the futures of England's Wayne Rooney and Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.
