UN's Ban Ki-moon 'shocked' by Syria attack claims

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is "shocked" by reports of a deadly chemical weapons attack by forces loyal to President Assad in Syria, the UN has said.

The body has also confirmed that its chief chemical weapons investigator is in discussions with the Syrian government over the allegations.

'Neurotoxic' attack in Syria

Medecins Sans Frontieres says doctors have treated about 3,600 patients in Syria with 'neurotoxic symptoms' and that 355 of them died. It suggests there are strong indications that chemical weapons have been used.
