Department of Health figures show that in the 12 months to April 2013, NHS managers approved 12,171 "exit packages" for staff - many of whom could be re-employed under different contracts.
The figures, released by Labour, show:
- 157 managers got more than £200,000 - up 50% from the year before
- 801 managers were awarded between £100,000 and £200,000, also up more than 50%
