Nyad stood unaided as she arrived on Florida beach

Diana Nyad managed to stand unaided as she arrived at Smathers Beach in Key West after swimming for almost 53 hours.

The 64-year-old has become the first person to complete the swim from Cuba to Florida without using a shark cage.

Veteran long-distance swimmer Diana Nyad, 64, has become the first person to complete the 110-mile journey from Cuba to Florida without a shark cage. It was her fifth attempt on the record and spent over 50 hours in the water.
