Pedestrian killed by lorry on motorway

A pedestrian has died after being struck by a lorry on the M5.

West Mercia Police said officers were attempting to establish why the man was on the southbound carriageway of the motorway in Worcestershire.

The victim, whose age is not known, was pronounced dead after the emergency services were called to the scene between Droitwich and Worcester at about 7.40am today.

A Highways Agency spokesman said the motorway had been closed southbound between Junction 5 at Droitwich and Junction 6 at Warndon.
