Well-wishers have gathered on Smathers Beach in Key West to witness the final leg of Diana Nyad's journey from Cuba to Florida without a shark cage.

Veteran long-distance swimmer Diana Nyad, 64, has become the first person to complete the 110-mile journey from Cuba to Florida without a shark cage. It was her fifth attempt on the record and spent over 50 hours in the water.
