The tortoises, one male and two females, were taken from the property in North Cerney in Gloucestershire.

A Gloucestershire Police spokesman said: "The animals were taken from the house on Churnside between 3.30pm on Monday August 26 and 8am on Tuesday August 27.

"Offenders walked into the garden along the driveway. They then removed the one male and two female tortoises from their enclosure and left the garden. The animals are of significant sentimental value to the owner as they were a gift from his late wife."

The theft happened between August 26 and 27 and Gloucestershire Police have urged anyone with information to contact them.
