Ousted Chinese politician Bo Xilai has appealed his life sentence, a source told Reuters.

"He has already appealed," said the source, who has direct knowledge of the case.

The appeal process could take up to two months and would be determined by authorities. However, the 64-year-old is unlikely to win, given that Chinese courts are controlled by the Communist Party.

The popular former star of China's ruling Communist Party was sentenced to life in prison on Sunday after being convicted of corruption charges.
