Students have lessons in front of shut museum doors

School children gather outside the National Archives which have been closed as a part of the US shutdown.

School children visiting Washington DC have been unable to visit landmarks and museums including the National Archives, which house the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.

Instead classes have gathered outside to be told about their nations history and read about how the political situation has resulted in the shutdown of so much of their government in the newspapers.

Monuments and national landmarks have been closed across America.
