Ferguson reveals he was approached by Chelsea

Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that he was approached by Roman Abramovich to manage Chelsea, and that he told him there was "no chance".

In an interview with American broadcaster PBS, he said: “They used an agent to approach me when Abramovich first took over the club.”

The veteran former Manchester United manager gave his vote of confidence to his successor David Moyes, insisting his former team is "in good hands".

He was also adamant that any rumours of him coming out of retirement were unfounded: “I made my decision. The timing was perfect. There is no way back for me now. I’ve got a new life."
