Obama 'cancels visit to Malaysia' after US shutdown

US President Barack Obama has cancelled his official trip to Malaysia next week after the US. government went into a shutdown, Reuters reports, citing Malaysian media.

US Secretary of State John Kerry will represent Obama instead, government-linked newspapers in Malaysia said.

The US government has partially shut down for the first time in 17 years after the Democrats and Republicans failed to agree a new budget.
