Hassan Al Thawadi, the Secretary General of the Qatar 2022 Organising Committee, has told ITV News that the issue of whether the World Cup should be moved from summer to winter is "very important" to the football community and that the committee are still focusing on a summer World Cup.
Ahead of an anticipated FIFA vote on when the showpiece event will be staged, he said:
The change of timing is a very important issue for the football community. For Qatar our focus is on a summer World Cup, the legacy elements behind a summer World Cup are of such magnitude and impact that we continue with our preparations, if it is in winter, we'll still continue with our preparations.
