McCartney played songs on new album to his wife first

Sir Paul McCartney told ITV's Daybreak that he played the material on his new album to his wife Nancy first.

The 71-year-old said: "I started writing these new ones a couple of years ago when I was first going out with Nancy.

"I used to ring her up each morning and I knew because of the time difference, she was in New York, that I had a few hours to write something and then I would ring her up and say do you want to listen to a song."

His latest album New is released on October 14.
