Senate agree US debt bill

The US Senate has passed a bill to raise the debt ceiling and avoid a potential default. It will now be sent to the House of Representatives for a final vote. President Obama has said he will sign the bill "immediately" after the House vote.

Republican Senator Ted Cruz won't delay US debt deal

Republican Senator Ted Cruz has said he will not seek to delay the passage of a Bill to end the US debt stand-off.

The conservative lawmaker said that the "Washington establishment has not listened to the American people."
