A police officer helped to deliver a baby girl in a car showroom after being flagged down by the father.
The expectant mother was being driven to a London hospital by her partner at around 1pm yesterday when they realised the baby was not about to wait.
Her partner pulled over next to Metropolitan Police transport officer Robert Morgan, who was dealing with a vehicle close to the Mercedes Benz showroom in Newham.
PC Morgan telephoned for help, but just minutes later he was forced to help deliver the girl before an ambulance arrived.
"We deal with all sorts of incidents, however I wasn't expecting this today," PC Morgan said. "The mother was not keen on my suggestion of calling the baby girl Mercedes!"
