Germany has temporarily closed its embassy in the Afghanistani capital Kabul due to fears of a possible attack, the Associated Press is reporting.
Earlier an international compound building housing military contractors in the city came under attack from gunfire.
Local police officials said there were casualties at the scene of the incident.
