Ukrainian postgraduate student Pavlo Lapshyn, 25, pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey to the murder of 82-year-old grandfather Mohammed Saleem in Birmingham in April and plotting to cause explosions near mosques in the West Midlands.

Police: Pavlo Lapshyn a 'dangerous and evil man'

Ukrainian student Pavlo Lapshyn is a "dangerous and evil man" who wanted to create a "race war", West Midlands' Assistant Chief Constable Marcus Beale said outside the Old Bailey.

He added that the community was "safer with Lapshyn behind bars".
