Police: Ukrainian student was 'operating alone'

Ukrainian student Pavlo Lapshyn was "operating alone" and was not part of a far-right group, West Midlands' Assistant Chief Constable Marcus Beale said outside the Old Bailey.

He said: "This individual was unusual and acting alone".

Ukrainian postgraduate student Pavlo Lapshyn, 25, pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey to the murder of 82-year-old grandfather Mohammed Saleem in Birmingham in April and plotting to cause explosions near mosques in the West Midlands.
