Apple's second tablet launch of the day is a the iPad mini 2.
The tablet has a retina display - the term used by Apple for liquid crystal displays with high enough pixel density that the human eye is unable to notice pixelation at a typical viewing distance.
It will be available in silver and white as well as space-grey and black. The new tablet will be priced at $399 for 16GB with Wi-Fi, while the original iPad mini will be available for $299, the company says.
