A seven-year-old girl has been busking in a bid to raise money for those affected by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

Ruby Darbyshire, whose mother is Filipino and has relatives in the disaster-hit country, has been playing instruments including a harmonica and ukulele in Dumfries town centre.

Philippines appeal reaches £39m

The Philippines typhoon appeal has reaches £39 million, the Disasters Emergency Committee has announced. British warship HMS Daring has arrived in the country as part of the UK's emergency response to Typhoon Haiyan.
