Qatar reveals designs for 2022 World Cup stadium

Qatar has unveiled its designs for a new football stadium to be built for the World Cup in 2022, featuring a cooled pitch and inspired by a traditional fishing boat.

The stadium will be built in the Al-Wakrah region, 10 miles from the capital Doha, and will cool the pitch to 26 degrees centigrade, while spectator stands will be cooled to between 24 and 28 centigrade.

Football's governing body FIFA has launched a consultation to decide whether the tournament should be held in November-December, rather than June-July when Qatar will be at its hottest.
