ITV brings back 'clap-o-meter' for new show Rising Star

ITV is bringing back a high-tech version of the clap-o-meter for a new singing show from the makers of the original version of the Emmy-winning Homeland.

Viewers use an online app to vote in real time on Rising Star with acts progressing to the next round only if they get 70% approval ratings.

The clap-o-meter, which measured audience approval by the amount of noise they made, featured in several TV shows including Opportunity Knocks.

Rising Star was devised by Israeli firm Keshet , which is behind shows including Prisoners Of War, which was remade in the US as Homeland.
