Neighbour heard multiple gunshots in early hours

The man who called the police to a disturbance in Leeds in the early hours of this morning, has told ITV News that he heard multiple gunshots which "sounded like fireworks".

Kieran Williams said he heard a glass bottle come through the bathroom window before hearing gunshots around an hour later.

A female officer was shot and is said to be in a "poorly but stable" condition in hospital.

A 37-year-old man believed to be James Leslie has been arrested in connection with the shooting.

PC shooting suspect questioned

Police are questioning a man over the shooting of an unarmed officer during a neighbourhood call. The 33-year-old officer is believed to have been blasted with a shotgun as she and a colleague called at a house in Leeds shortly after 4am yesterday.
