The PM backed Hull to win on Saturday based on their rivalry with his wife Samatha's family home town of Scunthorpe.

Mr Cameron made the predictions during filming in Camp Bastion, Afghanistan, for a special episode of BBC1's Football Focus following the launch a new UK-Afghan football partnership to boost the game by developing the league system.

Running through the fixture list for the next few days, he said: "Ooo, I like West Ham so why don't we go West Ham 2, Manchester United 1."

Asked by presenter Dan Walker why he liked team, the PM replied: "Because Karren Brady came with me on my trip to China and she's helping me bat for British business, so that's good enough for me."
