Naked man freed from washing machine with olive oil

A naked Australian man who became stuck in a washing machine as part of an ill-conceived practical joke had to be freed by police using olive oil as a lubricant.

The man, identified only as "Laurence," told Australia's Fairfax Radio that he was on his way to take a shower on Saturday when he decided to climb into the top-loading machine, reportedly to surprise his partner.

He then realised he could not budge and yelled out to his friend for help, who called the police.

Rescuers tried in vain to pull Laurence from the machine, and eventually grabbed a bottle of olive oil to help lubricate his escape.

The oil worked and he popped out, although Laurence said he was disappointed that rescuers used his good olive oil.
