Flood scheme 'incentivising right sort of development'

People who have bought homes built on flood plains since 2009 could find themselves stranded without the option of property insurance, a Tonight investigation has revealed.

Aiden Kerr of the Association of British Insurers defends the industry saying that it is important not to incentivise the building of more properties on floodplains:

Thousands of homes on flood plains with no insurance

An ITV investigation has found that hundreds of thousands of homes have been built on flood plains around the UK, against expert advice. Many of their inhabitants risk being stranded in an unsellable property with no insurance.
