A second block of flats in a development severely damaged by flooding is due to be demolished.

Families had to be moved from their homes after buildings at Spencer Court, in Newburn, Newcastle, had their foundations washed away by floods in September 2012.

A spokesman for Dunelm Homes said: "It is extremely sad that another block of apartments at Spencer Court has become a victim of the catastrophic events following the culvert collapse."

An estimated 40 million litres of water was pumped out of the estate after the incident.

Dunelm Homes said that since the flooding it has spent more than £1.5 million dealing with the problems that have arisen.
