American Hustle and Gravity lead the Oscar nominations with 10 each. British films Philomena and 12 Years A Slave, directed by Londoner Steve McQueen, are both nominated for the best picture Oscar.
Oscar nominations 'moment when dream came true'
British director Steve McQueen has said that it was "surreal" finding out that his film 12 Years A Slave had secured nine Oscar nominations.
McQueen added that "it was one of those moments where all your dreams and ambitions had come true".
