Energy bosses face criticism from MPs over power cuts

The UK's big energy distribution bosses faced a storm of criticism from MPs today over their response to the Christmas power cuts.

At an energy committee hearing they were accused of complacency and of neglecting customers - thousands of whom were left without electricity for days.

Energy committee chairman lambasted power bosses for failing to show "any expression of real concern for your customers". Six of the UK's energy distributors appeared before MPs to explain the response to mass power outages due to Christmas storms.
