Pickles: 'Might have been a problem' over floods response

The Communities and Local Government Secretary has appeared to suggest the Government and authorities may have been slow to react to the problem of the flooding. Ministers have announced an extra £30m for emergency repairs - £130m in total.

Anne McIntosh: Somerset 'almost a humanitarian crisis'

The floods in Somerset have become "almost a humanitarian crisis" and are a "national incident", according to the chair of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee.

Anne McIntosh MP called for a repeat of the fundraising that had taken place during the 2007 Yorkshire floods, so people who wanted to help were able to donate.
