Film director Woody Allen has published a letter on The New York Times website denying recent accusations made by his adopted daughter that he molested her as a child.
The 78-year-old insisted in an open letter that the allegation was fabricated by her mother, actress Mia Farrow, who he was fighting a custody battle with at the time.
The response by Allen was published five days after Dylan Farrow, now 28, gave the newspaper her own account that repeated and elaborated on allegations of abuse against her as a seven-year-old.
"I did not molest Dylan," Allen wrote. "I loved her and hope one day she will grasp how she has been cheated out of having a loving father and exploited by a mother more interested in her own festering anger than her daughter's well-being."
