Part of Sir Alex Ferguson's wine collection is expected to fetch around £3 million when it goes under the hammer next month, auction house Christie's says.

The collection features many fine and rare wines including Domaine de la Romanee-Conti Burgundies and many Finest First Growth Bordeaux, ranging in vintages from 1986 (the year he was appointed manager at Manchester United) to 2011.

The former Manchester United manager was known to invite opposition managers to share a bottle with him after games.

The wines will be offered at sales in Hong Kong on 24 May, London on 5 June and online only from 9 June to 23 June, they said.
