Malaysia considers death certificates for MH370 missing

The Malaysian government is considering issuing death certificates for passengers on the missing Malaysian Airlines flight MH370.

Officials are also drawing up plans to give financial assistance to bereaved families, but has yet to decide how much they might receive.

"When we talk about financial assistance, we have to be fair with everybody," said Deputy Foreign Minister Hamzah Zainudin, head of the next of kin committee for the missing flight.

Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott has said the search for missing flight MH370 is now "entering a new phase". He said the effort would now be "focussed on searching the ocean floor" over a "much larger area" than is currently being covered.
